Headstart ASD Facility (HASDF)
HASDF offers a specialist provision for young people aged between 10 and 18+ who are experiencing disruption within their education as a result of communication and behavioural difficulties because of Autism and Aspergers.
At HASDF we support our students to work at their own pace. We provide educational and therapeutic intervention and support for young people who co-present with Autism and ADHD, OCD, PDD, PDAS, Tourettes and Mild Learning Difficulties.
HASDF is located at the main Headstart School site and has access to the farm and gardens. It is a separate unit with its own access and secure grounds, which allows for safe interaction with farm livestock and small animals.
ASD pupils may be educated in the HASDF or as they grow in confidence and their anxiety reduces they have the option to take some or all of their lessons or therapies in the main Headstart School. This aspect of the provision will change as the needs of your young person changes.
All Headstart sites are staffed by experienced, well qualified and caring staff; who are dedicated to maintaining a safe, stress free environment while providing therapeutic support for all students.
HASDF staff are all experienced and trained in working with ASD and we are confident that we can provide a peaceful, calm and secure space where your young people can learn and grow.
HASDF pupils will have access to all of the courses and therapies available to students in the main Headstart school. While studying at Headstart School, students can expect 1:1 support timetabled to meet their individual needs. |
