Equine Studies
Headstart School offers equine studies for all key stages. Students are able to develop their experience from Key Stage 2 through to Key Stage 5 in a range of equine based subjects using practical situations to train, educate and learn for employment in the equine industry or moving on to further education.

Headstart School offers all students the opportunity to be involved in all areas of equine care and management. Students are able to carry out and understand the principles of feeding and watering, undertake routine stable duties, fit and maintain horse tack and clothing, maintain animal health and welfare, undertake horse grooming, trimming and plaiting, lunging horses and riding horses.
Pupils in Key Stage 4 and Post 16 have the opportunity to then receive a qualification in Equine Studies. We offer the Level 1 British Horse Association course, BTEC Level 1 Land-Based Studies and BTEC level 2 Certificate and Diploma in Horse Care which is the equivalent of GCSE’s grade A* to C.
